Hello All, I wanted to offer advice and share some awareness for those that sleep rough in London or those you see begging either on trains or streets. For our ward specifically: If you see someone sleeping rough or in need of emergency care, please contact 999 so that those in need are not forgotten. If someone is causing harassment, alarm, or distress, call 999 for emergencies or 101 for non-crime incidents, as this falls under ASB (Anti-Social Behaviour). For those asking for money claiming it’s for accommodation: while this can sometimes be true, in many cases funds are used for personal addictions. Please note that people can stay FREE in hostels, and there are many places across Camden offering free food, water, and advice. Key organisations that can help: Routes off the Streets (CGL) – Based at 6–8 Greenland Street, NW1 0ND. They help rough sleepers access accommodation and support drug/alcohol users into treatment. - Tel: 0207 846 3535 | Email: streetsafe@cgl.org.uk
Single Homeless Project (SHP) – Provides supported accommodation and resettlement services. - Tel: 020 7520 8660 | Email: info@shp.org.uk
St Mungo’s Camden Services – Offers hostels, outreach, and semi-independent housing for those with complex needs. - Tel: 020 7632 4000 | Website: www.mungos.org
You can also refer rough sleepers via StreetLink: Tel: 0300 500 0914 | Website: www.streetlink.org.ukPlease also be aware: If you notice anyone who may need help, we can refer them to these organisations and look into it ourselves. A simple welfare check is important to us, and we want to make sure everyone feels safe—whether they are living at home or sleeping rough. If anyone is causing ASB, please report this to us through 101 or in emergencies 999. Together, we can make a positive difference. If you need more details or advice, please reach out. |
